Ryan Tomm

Ryan is a doctoral candidate in the behavioral neuroscience area within the Psychology department at UBC. Ryan has actively engaged in both animal and human neuroscience research and hopes to improve linkages between human neuropsychiatric investigations and preclinical animal models. His specific focus lies in comprehensively exploring avoidance and reward-seeking behaviors as they relate to depression and anxiety disorders. By investigating these fundamental aspects of behavior, Ryan aims to shed light on the mechanisms underlying these conditions.

Notably, Ryan has received the NSERC’s PGS-D graduate fellowship and the NSERC’s Indigenous Ambassadors award, demonstrating his academic achievements and dedication to promoting Indigenous representation in science.
